The beloved Blue Bomber is making headlines yet again as Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 has been officially rated by the Korean Game Rating Board, sparking excitement among long-time franchise fans.
According to the recent listing, this anticipated collection is set to include four classic titles: Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10.
The release will follow the successful footsteps of the original Mega Man Legacy Collection, which bundled the earlier NES titles and launched in 2015 for platforms such as the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is being developed and published by Capcom, the storied Japanese developer renowned for its rich portfolio of iconic franchises.
The newly rated compilation will give both new and returning players an opportunity to experience these later-era Mega Man titles in a single, accessible package.
Notably, Mega Man 7 originally debuted on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, while Mega Man 8 first arrived on the PlayStation and Sega Saturn.
Mega Man 9 and 10 were initially digital-only releases for platforms including the WiiWare service, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network.
Despite the announcement, the rating only mentions versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
As of now, neither the Nintendo Switch nor the Nintendo 3DS are listed as supported hardware—an omission that has drawn disappointment from Nintendo's dedicated fanbase.
Capcom has not yet officially confirmed the existence of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 or specified all release platforms.
Therefore, there remains a possibility that platform availability could change prior to launch.
A spokesperson for Capcom has yet to comment on the rating.
However, it is worth noting that Capcom previously chose not to release its popular Disney Afternoon Collection on Nintendo's Switch or 3DS systems.
This trend has raised questions about the company’s release strategy for classic game collections on Nintendo’s latest hardware, especially as the Nintendo Switch continues to see impressive software sales figures and user engagement on its eShop digital storefront.
The original Mega Man Legacy Collection was praised for its faithful recreation of the classic games and its appeal to both seasoned veterans and a new generation of players.
With Mega Man’s multi-decade legacy and continued cultural resonance, fans remain hopeful Capcom will consider bringing the upcoming Collection 2 to Nintendo platforms.
As the gaming industry awaits official confirmation, enthusiasts can look forward to revisiting Mega Man’s adventures on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC when the collection officially launches.
Stay tuned to this space for any future updates regarding a potential Nintendo Switch release and further details direct from Capcom.
