Knights Peak has officially confirmed that Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree, the acclaimed action RPG Metroidvania, will make its debut on the Nintendo Switch on September 4, 2024.
Developed by Primal Game Studio, the title has already garnered attention on other platforms, and its introduction to the Nintendo Switch platform brings an enhanced edition that incorporates significant updates based on community feedback, including a highly anticipated New Game+ mode.
Set within a brooding medieval-fantasy universe plagued by a mysterious force called Entropy, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree invites players to explore a richly-detailed world, confront nightmarish monsters, and battle against challenging bosses.
With the Nintendo Switch launch, fans will experience a refined version featuring gameplay improvements and bonus content designed to elevate both new and returning players’ experiences.
In a company statement, representatives for Knights Peak highlighted that the Switch release is not merely a port.
They emphasized enhancements made directly in response to player input from previous releases, noting that the new features, such as New Game+ and performance optimizations, are tailored for the handheld-console hybrid.
The Deluxe Edition also debuts alongside the standard version, offering additional digital content including the original soundtrack, a digital art book, exclusive Shadowpyre and Gildcrest Transmog cosmetic sets, and two unique pet followers: the Curious Ottliong and Nimble Dieling.
Key features of Mandragora include six character classes, each boasting unique skill trees and access to over 200 active ability upgrades.
Players will confront an array of formidable adversaries, including 15 distinct bosses and 19 challenging mini bosses, all set to a haunting original soundtrack composed by Christos Antoniou (of Septicflesh) and performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra of Prague.
The narrative, crafted by renowned developer Brian Mitsoda, promises meaningful moral choices and multiple alternate endings, ensuring a tailored experience for every player.
Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree continues Primal Game Studio’s tradition of fusing deep storytelling with intense gameplay mechanics, seamlessly blending Soulslike challenge with Metroidvania exploration.
