Magical Librarian Ariana: The Books of the Seven Heroes Announced for Nintendo Switch by Compile Heart and Hyde

Compile Heart and Hyde have officially announced that "Magical Librarian Ariana: The Books of the Seven Heroes" will launch on the Nintendo Switch, with a Japanese release date set for August 21, 2025.

"Magical Librarian Ariana: The Books of the Seven Heroes" introduces players to a side-scrolling action RPG experience.

Developed by esteemed Japanese studios Compile Heart and Hyde, the title places players in the role of Ariana, a librarian gifted with magical powers.

Her task is to restore the legendary Books of the Seven Heroes, a mission that leads her into the depths of magical tomes and into the heart of a grand library that houses humanity's magical history. The narrative dives into a rich, lore-filled world, beginning 1,500 years prior to present events, when an enigmatic figure blessed humanity with four magical books known as the “Books of the Four Elements,” and a mystical “Magic Pen” capable of creating new magic books.

Over time, mankind, having learned the principles of magic and magical power, produced numerous new volumes using this artifact. Among these creations, three additional books—referred to as "The Books of the Three Phenomena"—rose to prominence.

Together with the foundational four, these volumes are collectively named "The Books of the Seven Heroes." At the core of this universe is the Library: a bastion of knowledge and the wellspring of all magic power.

The game’s central conflict arises when these vital books are tampered with, causing magic to abruptly vanish from the world. Players will guide Ariana as she harnesses her unique magic to traverse and repair the compromised books, gradually unraveling the mystery that threatens the Library and the future of magic itself.

Throughout the action-packed adventure, players must solve puzzles, engage in combat, and restore order, making full use of the Nintendo Switch platform’s capabilities. A representative for Compile Heart described the project as a blend of evocative storytelling and engaging gameplay, promising players "a journey through beautifully crafted magical worlds brought to life by Ariana’s abilities and the Nintendo Switch hardware."
