"I wanted to create a video that brings both worlds together," he explained, adding that the project took a month and a half to complete.
According to the creator, the process was both enjoyable and educational, as each stage of animation presented opportunities to enhance and refine the final product.
The Paper Mario franchise has played a significant role in Nintendo’s platform history, with its acclaimed art direction and turn-based gameplay securing high praise since the original’s release on the Nintendo 64.
Paper Mario: The Origami King, the sixth installment in the series, was announced in May 2020 and subsequently launched for the Nintendo Switch, bringing new and established fans alike back into Mario’s papercraft universe.
Meanwhile, Star Fox 64, released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and later on the Nintendo eShop, remains one of Nintendo’s most influential space shooters, often referenced among the defining titles of its era.
This latest fan-made homage builds on a growing trend within the Nintendo community.
Other franchises, such as The Legend of Zelda and Ice Climber, have also received imaginative Paper Mario-inspired reinterpretations from talented fans.
