Description

Nintendo has officially launched an exciting new initiative called Creator’s Voice—an online series designed to give fans unparalleled access to the creative minds shaping the future of games for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

This behind-the-scenes program aims to spotlight the publishing and development partners who are crafting next-generation gameplay, specifically utilizing the enhanced capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. The Creator’s Voice series began with a written interview featuring industry icon Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware, shedding light on the studio’s latest project, The Duskbloods.

The momentum continued with a video feature starring Supergiant Games, the creative force behind Hades II, before moving to a focus on Hazelight Studios—a team renowned for redefining co-op gameplay. In a recent Creator’s Voice video spotlight, Josef Fares, founder and creative director of Hazelight Studios, and chief operating officer Oskar Wolontis, discussed their deep appreciation for Super Mario Galaxy 2 and shared unique insights into their philosophy on cooperative action-adventure development.

Speaking on behalf of the studio, they emphasized the importance of player collaboration and the innovative ways Nintendo Switch 2 enables fresh co-op experiences. Hazelight Studios is set to launch Split Fiction, a cooperative action-adventure game, on June 5, 2025.

The title will be available both physically and digitally worldwide via the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2, alongside releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In Split Fiction, players take on the roles of Mio and Zoe—two creative writers with contrasting styles who find themselves drawn into a machine-powered realm where they must navigate both sci-fi and fantasy plots.

Stranded within stories of their own making, the duo needs to combine their strengths to solve puzzles, master an array of abilities, and face unexpected challenges across alternating worlds. A key innovation of Split Fiction on Nintendo Switch 2 is the introduction of GameShare, a system that allows local multiplayer with just a single game copy—enabling a second player to join on their own console at no extra cost.

Complementing this is GameChat, which supports live video and voice communication, enhancing the social aspect of co-op play regardless of location.

The title also features the Friend’s Pass: players can invite friends to join online sessions even if they don’t own the game, and an EA Account enables seamless cross-platform play across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Split Fiction leverages Hazelight Studios’ expertise in cooperative narrative design, previously showcased in hits like It Takes Two and A Way Out.

Players can expect an ever-changing gameplay experience with new mechanics and abilities in each level, from racing gravity bikes to escaping cosmic catastrophes.

The story of Mio and Zoe is brought to life through dynamic platforming, stealth challenges, and memorable encounters—all underscored by the power of friendship and teamwork. With Creator’s Voice, Nintendo continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a vibrant ecosystem of innovative developers, while showcasing the new capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2.

Split Fiction launches June 5, 2025, underscoring Nintendo and Hazelight Studios’ shared vision for the future of imaginative, cooperative gameplay.
