The latest Japanese video game sales figures from Famitsu reveal a dynamic week for both software and hardware, with Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem making a commanding debut.

Resident Evil Requiem launched strongly, securing the top position in its first week with impressive sales of 155,373 units on PlayStation 5 and 38,793 units on Nintendo Switch 2.

This significant launch has pushed Mario Tennis Fever, a recent chart regular, down to fourth place, as the racing title Tokyo Xtreme Racer also entered the top three on PlayStation 5 with 17,669 units sold. Tales of Berseria Remastered also made its presence felt, debuting on Nintendo Switch with a noteworthy 9,798 units sold.

Meanwhile, staple titles like Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined and Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to record steady sales across both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 platforms.

Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined sold 9,640 units on the original Switch and 8,748 on Switch 2, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons added 6,429 and 5,950 units, respectively, to its impressive lifetime totals on each platform.
