The weekly data highlights strong ongoing sales for Rhythm Heaven Groove, Splatoon Raiders and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, alongside multiple-platform debuts for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT and a new entry from Starsand Island.
Rhythm Heaven Groove led the boxed charts with 37,402 units sold for the week, bringing its total to 911,241 lifetime boxed sales.
Nintendo's Splatoon Raiders placed second on the charts with 13,224 boxed units sold on Switch 2 (626,371 lifetime boxed sales), while Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream remained a steady seller on the Nintendo Switch with 12,558 units for the week and a lifetime total of 1,574,773 boxed sales.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT posted a notable multi-platform boxed launch, occupying three positions in the top ten.
The Switch 2 version accounted for 7,613 boxed units, the PS5 version sold 4,002 boxed units, and the original Switch release added 3,538 boxed units in the same week.
Famitsu's figures show the Switch 2 release led boxed sales for the title despite the large installed base of original Nintendo Switch consoles.
Minecraft (Mojang) and Konami’s Powerful Pro Baseball 2026-2027 also registered in the top ten, with Minecraft selling 3,953 boxed units for a lifetime boxed total of 4,265,941 and Powerful Pro Baseball moving 3,718 units (205,769 lifetime).
Pokémon Pokopia appeared in the top ten on Switch 2 with 3,701 weekly boxed sales, and Starsand Island debuted at number ten on Switch 2 with 3,415 boxed units.
On hardware, Switch 2 again led weekly sales with 20,734 units sold during the same period, taking its lifetime at 6,218,927 units.
Combined PlayStation 5 SKUs totaled 6,397 boxed hardware sales for the week (PlayStation 5 Digital Edition: 5,866; PS5 Pro: 418; PlayStation 5: 113), while the family of Switch hardware (Switch Lite, Switch OLED Model and original Switch) collectively sold 6,111 units for the week.
Famitsu’s boxed charts offer a clear snapshot of Japan’s physical retail market: Nintendo titles and hardware remain central to boxed sales, new multi-platform releases can still make an immediate chart impact, and Switch 2 has established itself as the top-selling console in Japan for the week of August 17–23.
