Capcom's 'Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection' has claimed the top spot in the latest Japanese software sales charts, particularly excelling on the Nintendo Switch platform.
According to the latest data published by Famitsu, the Nintendo Switch version of the collection sold a notable 52,375 units in its debut week, establishing itself as a clear favorite among Japanese gamers.
The PlayStation 4 version also made a respectable entry, debuting at number five with 7,871 units sold.
The continued momentum for the Mega Man franchise, especially on Nintendo hardware, demonstrates Capcom’s ability to revive classic series for modern audiences.
This success follows a broader trend of legacy collections performing well on the Nintendo Switch, which provides both portability and a robust user base for such titles.
Elsewhere in the charts, Nintendo’s own platform hits continue to display remarkable staying power.
'Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe', released on February 24, 2023, secured the second position with 11,372 units sold this week, bringing its cumulative sales to an impressive 384,987 units.
Meanwhile, perennial favorites such as 'Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet' (9,499 units), 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' (9,071 units), and 'Minecraft' (7,307 units) remain prominently in the top ten, speaking to their enduring popularity on the Nintendo Switch.
Notably, the PS4 version of 'Resident Evil 4' managed to hold onto a spot in the top ten at number seven, selling 7,189 units, despite the PlayStation 5 version falling out of the top ten rankings.
Meanwhile, 'Dokapon Kingdom: Connect,' developed by Compile Heart, made a new entry at number ten for the Switch, selling 5,411 units in its first week.
On the hardware front, both Nintendo and Sony posted robust sales.
The PlayStation 5 led individual hardware sales this week with 39,799 units, complemented by the PS5 Digital Edition’s 7,241 units for a collective total of 47,040.
Combined sales for all Nintendo Switch models (the flagship OLED Model, standard Switch, and Switch Lite) reached 48,794 units.
Despite being in its sixth year, the Nintendo Switch continues to maintain strong sales momentum, just edging ahead of Sony this week.
Other hardware, such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S and X, and the New 2DS LL, also registered steady results but by smaller margins.
These figures highlight the sustained appeal of classic gaming franchises and the resilience of established hardware platforms in the Japanese market.
As Capcom’s 'Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection' leads the charge, Nintendo’s commitment to evergreen titles and robust hardware support remains a defining factor in its ongoing domestic success.
