Description

Ubisoft and Nintendo have officially unveiled the much-anticipated arrival of Assassin's Creed Shadows on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Set for launch on December 2, 2025, the critically acclaimed title will make its debut on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, marking a significant milestone for both the franchise and the platform. Assassin's Creed Shadows, developed by Ubisoft, has been making waves since its initial release on other platforms in March 2025.

Now, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can look forward to exploring Feudal Japan as either the stealthy shinobi Naoe or the formidable samurai Yasuke.

The dual protagonists offer distinct gameplay experiences: Naoe emphasizes classic stealth mechanics that long-time series fans will appreciate, while Yasuke introduces a more direct, combat-oriented style. The Switch 2 version comes packed with several enhancements designed to take full advantage of the console’s unique capabilities.

Most notably, Ubisoft has integrated full touchscreen support for all in-game menus and the world map when played in handheld mode.

This feature is expected to deliver a more tactile and intuitive user experience, especially for portable play—a Nintendo hallmark. Additionally, Assassin's Creed Shadows on Switch 2 will support cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect.

This allows players to seamlessly carry their progress between platforms, ensuring that holiday gamers can switch from their usual console to the hybrid system without any setbacks.

Ubisoft confirmed that the game will be priced at USD $59.99 and can be purchased digitally through the eShop or as a physical Game-Key Card, providing flexibility for all types of players. At launch, Switch 2 players will also receive expansive post-launch content bundled in from the start.

Title Updates 10 and 11 will be available on day one, introducing new features such as Corrupted Castles, improvements to parkour mechanics, free story updates, and environmental puzzles.

However, Ubisoft specified that the Claws of Awaji expansion will be released in early 2026 for the Switch 2 version. Assassin's Creed Shadows has already garnered strong praise in the gaming community.

In its original review, Push Square awarded the title an 8 out of 10, describing it as "one of the strongest overall entries in the series" and a standout among open-world RPGs.

Despite its familiar formula, the game’s commitment to innovation and quality has resonated with both long-time fans and newcomers alike. With its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release, Assassin's Creed Shadows promises to deliver a robust and feature-rich experience, making it a highlight for Nintendo fans as the year comes to a close.

Gamers can anticipate enjoying Ubisoft’s renowned historical adventure on the go or at home, further establishing the versatility and appeal of the Switch 2 platform.
