The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses is set to electrify fans at The NEC in Birmingham this weekend, marking the celebrated return of Jason Michael Paul Entertainment’s critically acclaimed concert tour to the United Kingdom during the Insomnia60 gaming festival.
As one of the industry’s most notable tributes to video game music, the concert commemorates over 30 years of The Legend of Zelda, delivering live orchestral renditions of the franchise’s legendary soundtracks—all produced with the direct input and endorsement from Nintendo’s renowned developers and composers.
Originating in 2012, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses has toured globally, enthralling fans with performances featuring selections from beloved titles such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
This season introduces a fresh, reimagined score and, for the first time in the UK, live orchestral music from the critically hailed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild—Nintendo Switch’s acclaimed entry that redefined open-world gameplay.
In a recent discussion with executive producer Jason Michael Paul, he shared, "Breath of the Wild has been a profound inspiration, and it remains my favorite installment in the series.
Bringing its evocative score to concert audiences elevates the show to a new level." When asked about integrating music from Breath of the Wild—which is known for its minimalistic and atmospheric compositions—Paul noted that every Zelda game presents unique challenges in arrangement and visuals, but these new additions have been enthusiastically received, especially in their Latin American tour stops.
This season's program reflects an updated approach, with the addition of a dedicated Skyward Sword movement as the opening symphonic act, aligning with the Zelda series timeline.
Audiences will also experience a newly orchestrated Breath of the Wild Medley and the Ballad of the Windfish, accompanied by vivid visuals.
To enhance global inclusivity, testimonials from Shigeru Miyamoto, Eiji Aonuma, and Koji Kondo have been localized for non-English audiences.
Paul detailed Nintendo’s close involvement in shaping each performance, explaining that while his team proposes arrangements, final approval always comes from luminaries such as Aonuma and Kondo.
"There’s an iterative process—Nintendo provides feedback, and we fine-tune the program until it meets their high standards," he explained.
Fan favorites are a staple of every show, and the team frequently receives enthusiastic requests for beloved tracks, with Paul highlighting his wish to further expand Breath of the Wild’s orchestral presence in future concerts.
With over 50 concert dates announced worldwide and a live recording from Las Vegas set to be released as a DVD/CD set, Symphony of the Goddesses continues to reach new heights.
Paul recalls performing at Tokyo International Forum in 2015, attended by key Zelda creators, and visiting Nintendo's Kyoto headquarters as treasured highlights of the tour’s nearly six-year history.
The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert will take place at The NEC, Birmingham on Sunday, 16th April 2017, during Insomnia60, which runs from Friday, 14th to Monday, 17th April 2017.
Tickets remain available through the official Symphony of the Goddesses website.
