The studio confirmed the title will arrive on Nintendo’s next-generation Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 5, and noted the game will be playable for attendees at Tokyo Game Show 2026 from September 17 to September 21.
In a developer preview, Level-5 outlined the game’s core premise and systems.
The company describes the narrative as a heartwarming horror about a mysterious family: the player character lives in a mansion above an apartment building owned by their grandmother, discovers a locked room containing a camera-like device, encounters a ghost, and becomes embroiled in supernatural events that drive the story forward.
Level-5 also detailed the game’s key mechanics in the preview.
Players will use a camera mechanic called Cameron to capture objects and transform them into Mononoke spirits.
The studio explained that captured items can be combined using blueprint recipes to create fusion Mononoke, expanding the roster of spirits available to the player.
Combat will pair Mononoke allies with a card-based command system; not all spirits are friendly, and some will attack, requiring players to manage and deploy their collected Mononoke strategically.
The announcement confirms platform targets—Switch 2, PC, and PS5—but does not yet specify a precise release date or regional launch windows.
Level-5 said the title will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, giving journalists and attendees an early chance to experience Holy Horror Mansion ahead of its 2027 launch window.
Level-5 is known for developing the Yo-Kai Watch series and other original IP, and this project is presented as a concept entry within that broader franchise.
Distribution details such as retail formats and digital availability on services like the Nintendo eShop or other platform stores have not been disclosed.
We’ll track further updates from Level-5, including a firm release date and post-TGS impressions.
