Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (MHGU), Capcom's expanded port of Monster Hunter Generations/Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch, launched worldwide on August 28, 2018 via retail and the Nintendo eShop.
The Switch release brought G Rank content and a suite of Deviant monsters to console players.
While Valstrax appears prominently on the game's box art as a flagship threat, the game's other flagship Deviant — Bloodbath Diablos — is gated behind a multi-step unlock path that requires specific High Rank and G Rank progress.
Capcom structured Bloodbath Diablos as a late-game flagship: it only becomes available after a defined sequence of Hunter Rank (HR) and Gathering Hub G Rank (G) quests are completed, and after clearing each Deviant at least once.
In plain terms: you must raise your Hunter Rank, complete a set of prerequisite HR/G quests to obtain Special Permits or Deviant unlocks, clear all Deviant monsters once, then finish a final pub-related step to open the Bloodbath Diablos hunt.
Outlined unlock progression (condensed):
- HR1: Complete "The Ingredient of Legend" (Arzuros), "Snow with Occasional Lagombi" (Lagombi), and "Shells of Steel" (Daimyo Hermitaur) to unlock Redhelm, Snowbaron, and Stonefist Special Permits.
- HR2: Complete "Royal Assassination" to unlock Dreadqueen Rathian permit.
- HR4: Complete "Tackling the Tetsucabra" for Drilltusk Tetsucabra.
- HR5: Clear Village prerequisites, speak with the Pokke NPC, and complete Nargacuga, Uragaan and Yian Garuga missions to unlock Silverwind Nargacuga, Crystalbeard Uragaan and Deadeye Yian Garuga permits.
- HR6: Complete key Rathalos, Zinogre, Tigrex and Glavenus hunts to unlock Dreadking Rathalos, Thunderlord Zinogre, Grimclaw Tigrex and Hellblade Glavenus permits.
- G2/G3: Complete Shogun Ceanataur, Malfestio, Astalos, Mizutsune and Gammoth fights to unlock Rustrazor, Nightcloak, Boltreaver, Soulseer and Elderfrost Deviants.
After reaching this stage you must hunt or capture each Deviant at least once under their Special Permit or G-rank capture conditions (Redhelm, Snowbaron, Stonefist, Dreadqueen, Drilltusk, Silverwind, Crystalbeard, Deadeye, Dreadking, Thunderlord, Grimclaw, Hellblade, Nightcloak capture, Rustrazor capture, Soulseer capture, Boltreaver capture, Elderfrost capture).
Finally, clear all speech bubbles in the Hunter's Pub and complete any additional quest; doing so unlocks the Bloodbath Diablos quest.
This sequence is part of MHGU's extensive high-end reward loop on Nintendo Switch and is consistent with how Capcom organized Deviant unlocks in the G Rank cycle.
Happy hunting, and consult the in-game Gathering Hub quest log for exact mission names and HR requirements as you progress.
