Nintendo and Imagineer have officially announced the removal of Fitness Boxing from the Nintendo Switch eShop, marking a significant change for digital fitness game enthusiasts.
This decision is set to take effect globally, as confirmation has already been received in major regions including Europe and Japan, with North American details expected to follow soon.
First released on the Nintendo Switch in December 2018, Fitness Boxing quickly established itself as a unique genre-blending title, merging rhythm-based gameplay with workout routines.
Developed by Imagineer and published by Nintendo, the game found a dedicated user base among players seeking an accessible and engaging way to exercise at home, and it holds a prominent spot on the eShop’s fitness game charts.
In their official statement, Nintendo and Imagineer conveyed their intention to cease both digital distribution and production of physical copies of Fitness Boxing.
While no specific reasons for this decision have been made public, both companies have assured players that any existing purchases will remain unaffected.
Players who already own Fitness Boxing digitally will retain the ability to re-download both the main game and any associated updates or patches for the foreseeable future.
Furthermore, Imagineer clarified that the demo version will also be removed from the eShop at the same time as the full game.
Physical copies of Fitness Boxing will soon become limited as production discontinues, but owners will continue to be able to play without restrictions.
New players interested in acquiring the title have up until November 30, 2023, to purchase from the eShop before it is permanently delisted.
It’s worth noting that this change does not impact Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise, the 2020 sequel that remains available on the Nintendo Switch eShop and at retail locations.
There have been no announcements regarding the future availability of Fitness Boxing 2, ensuring continuity for fans of the series.
Fitness Boxing’s departure marks the end of an era for a title that has sold over one million copies worldwide and contributed to the Nintendo Switch’s reputation as a versatile platform for fitness gaming.
Users who wish to secure a digital or physical edition are encouraged to do so before the November 30 deadline.
