Fire Emblem Warriors DLC Pack #1 Launches Early on Nintendo Switch and New 3DS in Japan
Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have officially announced the early release of Fire Emblem Warriors' first downloadable content (DLC) pack in Japan, bringing fresh content to both Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS players.
The highly anticipated 'DLC Pack #1 – Fire Emblem Fates' is now scheduled for release on December 21, 2017—ten days ahead of the previously planned launch date.
This early debut allows Japanese fans of the Fire Emblem series to experience new characters and features before the end of the year.
Fire Emblem Warriors, developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja in collaboration with Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, is a hack-and-slash action title blending the popular Fire Emblem universe with the signature gameplay of the Warriors franchise.
Released for Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS in September 2017, the game garnered critical and commercial success, appreciated for its strategic depth and faithful adaptation of Fire Emblem’s beloved characters and storylines.
The new 'Fire Emblem Fates' DLC pack is available for 1,400 yen (approximately £9 or $12) through the eShop, and introduces a suite of fresh content to enhance the gameplay experience.
Players can now access three new playable characters from Fire Emblem Fates—Azura, Niles, and Oboro.
In addition to expanding the roster, the pack features three extra History Maps, each offering unique narrative-driven missions populated with new and returning characters from the Fire Emblem universe.
Further enriching the customization aspect of Fire Emblem Warriors, the DLC includes five new costumes for established heroes and thirteen Broken-Armor models, allowing for even more variety in character presentation during intense battles.
These additions provide dedicated fans with a deeper sense of immersion and replayability.
Currently, no specific release date for the DLC pack has been given for Europe or North America, but Nintendo has confirmed that western regions can expect access later in December 2017.
Two more DLC packs are scheduled to follow in February and March 2018, centered around content from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: Awakening, respectively.
Players are encouraged to explore the latest 1.2 update for Fire Emblem Warriors, which introduces changes to armor attributes and adds further balance based on community feedback.
With this early launch in Japan, Nintendo continues to deliver substantial post-launch support for Fire Emblem Warriors, keeping the game’s community engaged and reinforcing its position as a must-have title for fans of both the Fire Emblem and Warriors franchises.
