Description

Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 in Winter 2025.

Fans of the acclaimed RPG can look forward to experiencing Cloud Strife’s epic journey in a new generation of Nintendo hardware, both as a retail release and as a digital download via the Nintendo eShop. Since its initial release, Final Fantasy VII Remake has captivated players worldwide, shipping and selling over seven million copies digitally and at retail.

The game reimagines the iconic original PlayStation title, offering an expansive retelling of the adventures of Cloud Strife, a former member of SOLDIER who finds himself fighting alongside the resistance group Avalanche in the industrial city of Midgar. Set against the backdrop of the shadowy Shinra Electric Power Company’s exploitation of the planet’s resources, Cloud and his allies are quickly drawn into a struggle that extends far beyond the city’s walls.

This fight not only determines Midgar's fate but also plays a pivotal role in the destiny of the entire planet. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade delivers enhanced visuals and a host of technical improvements, making full use of modern gaming hardware.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be able to experience these upgrades for the first time on a Nintendo platform, ensuring smooth performance and visual fidelity. One of the significant additions in Intergrade is the inclusion of FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.

This original side story focuses on Yuffie Kisaragi, a skilled ninja from Wutai, who embarks on her own mission to infiltrate Midgar.

Her narrative unfolds parallel to the events of the main game, providing players with both a fresh perspective on the chaos unfolding in the city and the opportunity to experience new gameplay elements tailored to her unique playstyle. Square Enix will make Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade available globally for Nintendo Switch 2 in Winter 2025, ensuring that both established fans and newcomers can enjoy the definitive version of this modern JRPG classic.

With the addition of the Intermission episode, new technical enhancements, and the portability offered by Nintendo hardware, this release stands out as a significant milestone for both the Final Fantasy franchise and the Nintendo Switch platform. Players eager to revisit Midgar or experience Cloud and company’s struggle for the first time on Nintendo Switch 2 should mark their calendars for the upcoming release window and stay tuned for further updates from Square Enix and Nintendo regarding this highly anticipated title.
