Square Enix has launched a free demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of the game’s full release.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second instalment in Square Enix’s three-part Final Fantasy VII remake project, is set to arrive at retail and digitally worldwide on 3 June 2026.

The demo gives players an early look at the opening content and ties into the developer’s pre-order and bonus structure.

What’s in the demo

The free demo available on the Nintendo eShop covers the first two chapters of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Players can carry their demo save data into the full game, and Square Enix confirmed that demo participants will receive in-game bonuses when they progress to the full release.

Those bonuses include the Kupo Charm, which raises the chance of collecting extra crafting materials, and the Survival Set.

The Digital Deluxe Edition’s pre-order incentives include the Moogle Trio Summoning Materia, Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, Armor: Shinra Bangle Mk.

II, along with the edition’s standard bonuses—Magic Pot Summoning Materia, Accessory: Reclaimant Choker, Armor: Orchid Bracelet, a digital artbook and a mini-soundtrack.

Physical pre-orders will include a Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy Zack Fair card featuring variant art by Tetsuya Nomura while supplies last.

Streamlined Progression and platform notes

As with the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2 will include the Streamlined Progression feature.

This optional mode provides unlimited MP and HP, constant limit and ATB gauge during battles, very high damage caps (9,999), and easier weapon ability acquisition to let players focus on story and the hybrid combat experience.

Narrative placement and development context

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the story from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, following former SOLDIER Cloud Strife and his companions as they leave Midgar and explore the wider world.

The remake project reimagines the original game across three standalone titles developed by the original creators at Square Enix.

Critical perspective

In coverage of the Switch 2 port for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, critics praised the title’s presentation and action-RPG systems while noting the port’s faithfulness and occasional reminders of the original game’s legacy.

The port drew positive attention for bringing a high-profile PlayStation-first release to Nintendo’s new hardware.
