Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 with a suite of innovative progression settings aimed at making the acclaimed JRPG more accessible to a broad range of players.
Scheduled for release on January 22, 2026, this version introduces customizable features that allow users to adapt gameplay according to their preferences and lifestyle, reaffirming Square Enix’s commitment to player-centric design.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, developed by Square Enix, is the enhanced version of the celebrated Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
The game marks the first entry in a planned trilogy that reimagines the legendary 1997 RPG.
Since its original release in 2020, Intergrade has impressed players and critics alike with its expanded story content, overhauled graphics, and engaging combat system.
With the move to Nintendo Switch 2, Square Enix is making significant quality-of-life updates to further broaden the game’s appeal.
The new progression settings, unique to the Switch 2 release, empower players to modify core gameplay elements.
Features include keeping HP and MP permanently at maximum, ensuring that the Limit Break and ATB gauges are always full, and enabling all attacks to deal a fixed 9999 damage.
For example, with HP always set to full, players remain invulnerable even against formidable foes such as Tonberries.
Magic Points (MP) and Active Time Battle (ATB) gauges can similarly remain at their maximum, granting continuous access to magic and abilities.
The Limit Break gauge is always available, allowing potent moves without restriction.
When the damage cap setting is enabled, every attack delivers the absolute maximum, providing a dramatically empowered combat experience.
Importantly, Square Enix clarifies that each progression setting can be toggled individually, so players can mix and match these assists as desired or opt for the traditional experience.
The developer notes that, while the majority of content supports these features, certain situations in-game may not fully accommodate them.
Explaining the rationale behind these additions, director Naoki Hamaguchi emphasized that the enhancements are designed to accommodate diverse player lifestyles and preferences.
“We want people to be able to tailor their experience, whether they prefer a laid-back approach that prioritizes story or wish to revisit scenes efficiently,” Hamaguchi remarked.
He highlighted that gaming, much like video streaming, is evolving to fit into different schedules and attention spans, making flexibility key for modern audiences.
These streamlined options not only assist during initial playthroughs but also benefit returning players eager to re-explore favorite story moments without the need for extended grinding or level progression.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade’s arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 underscores Square Enix’s dedication to inclusivity and replayability, ensuring both newcomers and veterans can experience its world on their own terms.
As the trilogy continues to unfold, these features are positioned to make the series more approachable than ever before.
