Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Live on Nintendo Switch 2: eShop Download, Streamlined Progression, and Save Transfer

Square Enix has published a playable demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Nintendo Switch 2 players, now available on the Nintendo eShop.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second installment in the Final Fantasy 7 remake project and continues the reimagined story originally crafted by the franchise’s creators.

The full game is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, 2026.

The demo offers a hands-on introduction to the title’s opening sequence and carries players through to Chapter 2.

Save data generated in the demo will transfer to the full release, allowing players to continue their progress once they purchase the complete game.

The demo can be downloaded directly from the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth page on the Nintendo eShop.

Notable gameplay options included in the demo mirror choices seen in previous remake entries.

The demo features the “Streamlined Progression” mode, first introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.

In journalistic terms: Streamlined Progression provides simplified systems that remove resource management constraints—granting permanent MP and HP, ensuring the ATB and Limit gauges remain full during combat, capping damage output at 9,999, and making weapon ability acquisition easier—so players can focus on story beats and hybrid action-RPG combat.

Key demo details at a glance:

- Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

- Availability: Live now on the Nintendo eShop

- Content: From opening sequence through Chapter 2

- Save transfer: Demo save data carries over to the full game

- Accessibility option: Streamlined Progression included

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the party’s journey beyond Midgar as Cloud Strife and his companions explore a more expansive world—traveling on chocobos across plains and confronting planetary threats tied to the lifestream and the machinations of Sephiroth.

The game is positioned as the second of three standalone entries that reimagine the original Final Fantasy 7 narrative.

For Nintendo Switch 2 owners who want an early look, the demo is the earliest official opportunity to experience the new combat systems and story setup ahead of the June 3, 2026 launch.
