FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE Demo Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 With Early Access and SILENT HILL f Collaboration

With anticipation building for the release of FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE, KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA have unveiled an exciting early access opportunity for fans.

Less than two months before the game's official launch, Nintendo Switch 2 users will be able to download a special demo on March 5, 2026, giving them an advance look at the chilling horror adventure.

Notably, any progress made in this demo will carry over seamlessly into the full game when it launches on March 12, 2026. The announcement, delivered via official press channels, also detailed a unique collaboration that will appeal to fans of psychological horror.

Through a partnership with SILENT HILL f—the latest installment in the iconic series—players will soon be able to access free downloadable costumes from the Silent Hill universe within FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

While SILENT HILL f itself is not slated for Nintendo Switch 2, this content crossover brings some of its atmosphere to the platform’s audience.

KOEI TECMO plans to release more details about the availability and specifics of this DLC in the weeks ahead. A robust new trailer highlights the enhanced gameplay elements, spotlighting improvements to the Camera Obscura mechanics and introducing the much-discussed hand-holding feature.

Players will once again take on the roles of twin sisters who find themselves trapped in an abandoned village haunted by vengeful spirits.

Their only means of defense is the Camera Obscura—a mystical device capable of capturing and sealing away supernatural entities. FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is a complete reimagining of one of the franchise’s most beloved entries.

It features expanded gameplay, including newly composed music such as the ending theme "Utsushie" by Tsuki Amano, additional side stories, and unexplored locations.

New settings like the Umbral Mound—a burial site entwined with ropes amid bamboo groves—and the candlelit halls of Eikado Temple provide richer narrative depth and eerie exploration. In this edition, players can use Broken Spirit Stones to unlock the backstories of various characters, uncovering additional lore and fresh side quests.

As players progress, they will encounter increasingly aggressive spirits that evolve and attack with heightened ferocity, adding a new layer of dread and challenge to the experience. Pre-orders for FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE are now available via the Nintendo eShop and select retailers.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the game, a digital soundtrack, art book, and bonus costumes, while early purchases (before March 25, 2026) come with exclusive items such as the Wraith Charm and special kimono outfits for key characters.

Digital pre-orders ahead of March 12, 2026 offer further in-game bonuses and legacy costume options inspired by the original game. FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms on March 12, 2026.
