FuRyu Confirms Exstetra Remaster for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch

FuRyu has announced a remaster of the fantasy RPG Exstetra for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, confirming that the title will receive an official English localization for audiences outside Japan.

The company has said launch timing for the two Nintendo platforms will be shared at a later date.

Exstetra originally launched in 2013 on Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita and remained a Japan-only release until this remaster announcement.

What Exstetra Is

Exstetra is set in Amazea, a Tokyo fused with another world and threatened with annihilation.

The narrative follows Ryoma, a high school student who becomes the chosen savior, a Prisma, and must confront the impending end of the world.

The remaster is based on the 2013 original; FuRyu notes that some specifications differ from that version.

Core mechanics and story

FuRyu has framed the game's central premise around a unique mechanic: the protagonist absorbs a power called EXS and must transfer it to allies through a kiss, awakening them as Prisma Knights.

Put simply, a kiss functions as the gameplay trigger to share EXS and bring companions into battle.

The remastered release will retain series features such as the Enchant system, which lets players apply abilities and effects to equipment using gathered materials.

Art and presentation

The world of Amazea is brought to life through artwork by tokyogenso, with well-known Tokyo locations like Shibuya and Akihabara reimagined and fused with another world.

FuRyu has also made an opening movie available alongside the remaster announcement.
