Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots Debuts on Nintendo Switch: Bringing the Beloved Franchise to New Platforms

The iconic golf series Everybody’s Golf, known internationally as Hot Shots Golf, has made a remarkable comeback with the release of Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots on the Nintendo Switch.

Developed by Bandai Namco in cooperation with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), this launch is a significant milestone for the franchise, which has been a staple of the PlayStation ecosystem since its inception.

Since its debut in 1997, Everybody’s Golf has charmed players with its approachable yet deep golfing mechanics and whimsical character designs.

After a hiatus of several years—excluding a virtual reality iteration in 2019—the franchise has now returned, and for the first time, it is accessible on a Nintendo console.

This multiplatform release represents a new chapter in the series’ storied history, making it available to a broader audience through both physical and digital editions on the Nintendo eShop. In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, producer Tomokazu Fukazawa shed light on how Bandai Namco became involved in revitalizing Everybody’s Golf.

Fukazawa explained that the development team aimed to introduce the enduring appeal of this SIE-created intellectual property to new players worldwide.

Through discussions with SIE, Bandai Namco obtained the rights to bring Everybody’s Golf to additional platforms.

“Our goal was to showcase the unique attraction of this beloved golf series,” Fukazawa said.

He also shared his personal connection to the project, noting his fondness for golf as a driving factor in taking part in the game’s development. Regarding the project’s genesis, Fukazawa revealed that the original plan involved simply porting an earlier installment in the franchise.

However, the team quickly decided to expand on this idea to reach an even larger audience.

“We started with the intention to create a faithful port, but as development progressed we leveraged the core strengths of the original game and added fresh features such as updated control schemes and brand-new gameplay modes,” Fukazawa told Famitsu.

The result is Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots—a game that respects its heritage while innovating for modern players on the Nintendo Switch. Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is available now for Nintendo Switch owners, continuing the franchise’s tradition of accessible yet strategic golfing fun.

The collaboration between Bandai Namco and SIE marks a successful expansion for the series, opening up the fairways of Everybody’s Golf to Nintendo fans for the very first time.
