Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 1 & 2 Set for Western Release This August on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox

The celebrated Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol.

1 & Vol.

2 will officially release in the West this August, bringing classic arcade titles to modern consoles.

Clear River Games has confirmed it will publish both volumes on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Western launch date set for August 14, 2025—two weeks ahead of the Japanese release.

This announcement, made via press release and social media, marks a significant milestone for fans of Toaplan’s arcade legacy. Originating in Japan, Toaplan earned widespread acclaim throughout the 1980s and 1990s for shaping the shoot-'em-up genre with high-intensity games and innovative mechanics.

With this upcoming collection, players in North America and Europe can experience a curated selection of Toaplan’s renowned library, many of which have influenced generations of developers and arcade enthusiasts. Each volume in the Toaplan Arcade Collection features eight emulation-based ports, previously available on Steam through Bitwave Games.

These ports have been enhanced with contemporary features such as save states, rewind capability, speed controls, and an option to play regional versions, ensuring both veteran and new players can customize their gameplay experience. Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol.

1 comprises the following titles: FixEight, Batsugun, Fire Shark, Flying Shark, Outzone, Tiger-Heli, Dogyuun, and Twin Cobra.

Volume 2 expands the anthology with Vimana, Slap Fight, Zero Wing, Twin Hawk, Hellfire, Grind Stormer, Truxton, and Truxton II. Both collections are set to retail for 5,500 yen each, with the Nintendo Switch version priced at 5,480 yen.

Physical editions will be available for the PS5 at launch, though a physical Nintendo Switch version has not been confirmed at this time.

In Japan, City Connection will handle local publishing, while Clear River Games brings the anticipated compilations to Western territories. Fans can also look forward to exclusive bonus features in each collection, offering a comprehensive look at Toaplan’s history and its contributions to arcade gaming.
