Description

Embracer Group, a leading force in the global gaming industry, is making strategic changes to its organizational structure and branding.

Following a series of high-profile acquisitions and rapid expansion, the company has announced the rebranding of its primary gaming division to 'Fellowship Entertainment.' This move is intended to unify its extensive portfolio and strengthen its position in the ever-competitive video game market, which includes hardware platforms like the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The rebranding was confirmed in a recent investor statement, where Embracer Group detailed its plans to retire the 'Middle Earth & Friends' working title in favor of the more definitive 'Fellowship Entertainment.' The new division will oversee a diverse workforce of approximately 6,000 employees spread across more than 30 countries.

Having assembled this global talent pool, Fellowship Entertainment aims to become a dominant force in game development, publishing, and IP stewardship. According to the official statement, Fellowship Entertainment will be responsible for managing commercial rights to a number of high-profile properties.

These include J.R.R.

Tolkien’s celebrated works 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings,' as well as other renowned game franchises such as Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro, Dead Island, Killing Floor, Darksiders, Remnant, and Tomb Raider.

The division will also handle a broad array of over 300 additional gaming IPs, reflecting Embracer Group’s aggressive acquisition strategy over recent years. The newly branded Fellowship Entertainment will bring together an impressive line-up of studios and companies under its umbrella, including 4A Games, Aspyr Media, CrazyLabs, Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Dark Horse, Deca Games, Eidos-Montréal, Flying Wild Hog, Gunfire Games, Limited Run Games, Middle-earth Enterprises, Milestone, PLAION, Tarsier Studios, THQ Nordic, Tripwire Interactive, Vertigo Games, and Warhorse Studios, along with more than 40 other companies.

The collective expertise of these teams covers the full spectrum of game development, ensuring a continuous pipeline of content for all major gaming platforms and distribution channels, such as the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace. In addition to the core restructuring, Embracer Group has announced intentions to establish Coffee Stain Group as an independent, community-driven collective of game developers and publishers.

Coffee Stain Group will operate with more than 250 dedicated professionals, further diversifying Embracer’s approach to creativity and talent management in the gaming space. The changes come at a time when Embracer Group is actively streamlining its business to focus on sustainable growth and long-term value creation.

The company’s continued emphasis on renowned IPs and experienced development teams positions it to maintain a strong presence in the industry, where it will continue to bring celebrated franchises and innovative new titles to platforms like Nintendo Switch and beyond.
