Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially delayed the release of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, moving the scheduled launch to 2026.
This update follows public concerns regarding the performance of the port, particularly after hands-on impressions surfaced from prominent industry events such as gamescom.
Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, stands as one of the most celebrated action RPGs in recent years.
Since its original launch, the game has achieved extraordinary success—selling over 28 million copies worldwide and earning acclaim for its immersive dark fantasy setting and challenging gameplay.
The Tarnished Edition aims to bring this award-winning experience to Nintendo's upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2, with several enhancements and additions for fans to enjoy.
Bandai Namco addressed the postponement in a statement released via their official social media channels, saying, "The ongoing development of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is fully committed to delivering the quality players expect.
However, we have made the decision to shift the launch window to 2026 to allow additional time for performance adjustments." The company went on to thank fans for their patience and continued support, expressing regret to those anticipating the game’s release.
The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 will not only feature the acclaimed base game, but also include the highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
In addition, players can look forward to two new playable classes—the Knight of Ides and Heavy Armored Knight—alongside three new customization options for the spectral steed Torrent, four new armor sets, and an array of new weapons and skills.
This comprehensive version is designed to appeal to both returning players and newcomers experiencing Elden Ring on a Nintendo platform for the first time.
Once released, Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will be available in both physical and digital formats, with distribution planned through retail channels and the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2.
The delay demonstrates Bandai Namco's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience optimized for the capabilities of Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
With its unique blend of exploration, treacherous dungeons, and epic boss battles, Elden Ring has forged a lasting legacy in the action RPG genre.
The Tarnished Edition’s eventual arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 is poised to further strengthen the franchise’s reach and reputation, ensuring that fans receive the best possible experience on their platform of choice.
