Description

Nintendo is celebrating Spring with a new National StreetPass Weekend, inviting Nintendo 3DS owners to take part in unique features and activities across North America from April 13th to 16th.

During this limited event, players can collect up to six StreetPass tags at any participating Nintendo Zone location, unlocking exclusive in-game bonuses for a range of popular titles. The Nintendo 3DS, renowned for its innovative StreetPass functionality, continues to offer engaging micro-interactions between users via its wireless sharing of profile data, game stats, and in-game items.

Despite the arrival of the Nintendo Switch, the 3DS community remains active and Nintendo's commitment to supporting the handheld is evident in events like National StreetPass Weekend. StreetPass features enhance several flagship Nintendo 3DS games, adding instant value to in-person encounters.

For instance, "Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World" lets players design custom Yoshi patterns to exchange with fellow fans over StreetPass.

Meanwhile, "Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS" integrates StreetPass to allow players to share and receive custom courses, further expanding creative opportunities. In "Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo," Nintendo is delivering spring-themed digital rewards for StreetPass participants.

Throughout April, visiting a Nintendo Zone allows players to acquire unique furniture like the cherry-blossom clock and taurus bathtub, while additional items like the lotus pond are available via in-game mail through the SpotPass feature.

These rewards are time-limited, with specific items available at different points in the month. Third-party titles also benefit from StreetPass.

"DRAGON QUEST VIII: Journey of the Cursed King" enables players to share photos captured in-game and receive embellishments according to peer ratings.

Similarly, "Dragon Ball Fusions" offers the ability to swap and fuse character data encountered through StreetPass, as well as battle AI-controlled avatars of other players. Other titles showcased during the event include "Pokémon Shuffle," where users can exchange game stats and earn hearts through repeated StreetPass meetings, with a special in-game gift available each day until April 18th.

"STORY OF SEASONS: Trio of Towns" leverages StreetPass to automatically swap farmer and pet profiles, providing rewards as pets visit other players' towns and fetch exclusive items. Nintendo continues to foster a vibrant 3DS community through innovative use of StreetPass and event-based bonuses.

This National StreetPass Weekend is another example of how the company leverages its unique hardware features, offering both new and longtime fans a chance to connect, share, and experience their favorite games in fresh, interactive ways. The event runs from April 13th to 16th, 2017, and is accessible to any 3DS user visiting a Nintendo Zone.
