Dunjungle Set for Nintendo Switch Release in December 2025: Astrolabe Games and Patapez Interactive Join Forces
Astrolabe Games and Patapez Interactive have officially announced the upcoming Nintendo Switch release of Dunjungle, a vibrant 2D roguelite adventure.
Slated to arrive on December 11, 2025, this partnership marks a significant milestone for both companies, positioning Dunjungle as a promising new entry for roguelite fans on Nintendo’s popular hybrid console.
Originally developed by Patapez Interactive, Dunjungle places players in the role of a determined monkey on a mission to defend the jungle from a corrupt force that is transforming peaceful creatures and wreaking havoc across the land.
The game challenges players to explore dynamic, procedurally generated dungeons, temples, crypts, and mysterious locales filled with an array of unique enemies, traps, and bosses.
Every run delivers a fresh experience, emphasizing replayability—a hallmark of the roguelite genre.
When asked about the features that set Dunjungle apart, representatives from Astrolabe Games and Patapez Interactive emphasized the game’s evolving arsenal.
Players will discover a wide selection of weapons, spells, and relics, each with unique effects.
Notably, these tools can be combined with elemental powers—such as fire, ice, thunder, and wind—to create devastating and creative attacks, adding strategic depth to every session.
The development team also highlighted the inclusion of non-hostile NPCs; players may encounter lost or trapped characters who, once aided, can become valuable allies in subsequent attempts.
Dunjungle’s roguelite structure employs permanent progression alongside its rigorous challenge.
There are no checkpoints: when players are defeated, they return to the beginning.
However, each attempt reinforces player knowledge, and successful actions—such as unlocking weapons or rescuing characters—carry forward, encouraging players to push further with each run.
As described by the development team, this approach provides a rewarding loop: advancement and expertise grow with every cycle, despite the high-stakes nature of permadeath.
The distinctive pixel art aesthetic of Dunjungle pays homage to retro titles, while item descriptions and quirky NPC interactions add a playful tone.
Players can expect surprises at every turn, including unconventional items, amusing enemy designs like legged fish, and unexpected challenges such as treasure chests that might not hold treasure at all.
Astrolabe Games confirmed that Dunjungle will see both physical and digital releases for the Nintendo Switch.
PM Studios is handling North American physical distribution, while Meridiem Games will manage retail copies in Europe.
Additionally, a playable demo is expected to be available soon via the Switch eShop, allowing players to sample the game’s mechanics ahead of launch.
With Patapez Interactive’s inventive approach and Astrolabe Games’ publishing expertise, Dunjungle is shaping up to be a stand-out release in the expanding roguelite landscape on Nintendo Switch.
Mark your calendars for December 11, 2025, and stay tuned to official channels for updates, including demo availability and launch details via Nintendo Direct announcements.
