Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Introduce Dipplin Evolution in The Teal Mask DLC
The Pokémon Company International has officially announced the debut of Dipplin, a brand-new evolution of Applin, in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s upcoming downloadable content, The Teal Mask.
As the first installment of the two-part expansion titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, The Teal Mask is set to launch on September 13, 2023, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
Dipplin emerges as a distinctive addition to the Applin evolutionary line, standing apart from its predecessors, Flapple and Appletun.
In terms of design, Dipplin portrays two coexisting creatures encased within an apple, with one head and tail belonging to separate entities working together from inside their shared fruit.
This design choice not only highlights the creativity of Game Freak’s development team but also distinguishes Dipplin’s role within the broader Pokémon universe. Classified as the Candy Apple Pokémon, Dipplin is a dual-type Grass and Dragon Pokémon, measuring 0.4 meters tall and weighing 4.4 kilograms.
Its core abilities are Supersweet Syrup—a debut ability exclusive to The Teal Mask—and Gluttony.
When Dipplin enters battle, its Supersweet Syrup ability automatically spreads a powerful aroma that lowers the evasiveness of opposing Pokémon, offering trainers a unique tactical advantage. Additionally, Dipplin introduces a signature move called Syrup Bomb.
This Grass-type special attack releases a burst of syrup, dousing the target and significantly lowering its Speed stat for three consecutive turns.
