Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 — Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment Confirm Holiday Release

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have officially confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned retail and digital release on the Nintendo eShop worldwide this holiday season.

The sequel to 2011's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine returns players to brutal third-person combat as Lieutenant Demetrian Titus and supports solo play or three-player co-op.

According to the publisher, the sequel preserves the visceral combat of the original while scaling encounters up for modern hardware.

Focus and Saber describe the experience as delivering high-tempo, violent third-person action with large on-screen enemy counts enabled by Saber Interactive's Swarm Engine.

They also emphasize long-term content support: more than two years of post-launch updates will add missions, modes, and challenges.

Key gameplay features outlined by the publisher include:

- 3-Player Co-op Campaign: Reprise the role of Lieutenant Demetrian Titus, reinstated to the Ultramarines, and battle across distant planets to uncover dark threats to the Imperium.

- Massive Enemy Swarms: Engage Tyranid hordes in fast-paced encounters that leverage Saber Interactive's Swarm Engine to populate large-scale fights.

- Buildable Space Marine: Play in both PvE and PvP modes as a customizable Space Marine.

Players can select from seven distinct classes, unlock up to 25 perks per class, upgrade weapon-specific perks, and personalize armour and weapon cosmetics.

- Siege Mode: Endure successive waves of Tyranid and Chaos assaults in an unforgiving 3-player survival mode.

Points earned between waves can be spent on supplies or to call reinforcements such as Cadians, Space Marines, or a Dreadnought.

The publisher's messaging stresses replayability and progression, saying that PvE and PvP systems are designed for repeated playthroughs that reward loadout and cosmetic progression.

The development team is positioning Space Marine 2 as a return to the franchise's hallmark mix of melee and ranged combat while expanding multiplayer and live-service style support.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide this holiday season.

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment remain the credited developer and publisher on the project.
