CD Projekt RED has set a new standard for video game ports with the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2.
Renowned for its immersive open-world design and storytelling, Cyberpunk 2077 will soon deliver its futuristic adventure to Nintendo's next-generation hardware, harnessing cutting-edge Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology by NVIDIA to elevate the player experience.
In a recent statement to Digital Foundry, the developers at CD Projekt RED confirmed that they are integrating a DLSS version tailored for the Nintendo Switch 2, leveraging the console’s NVIDIA Tensor cores.
This advanced AI-driven upscaling enables high-quality visuals without sacrificing performance—an essential feature for a title as graphically demanding as Cyberpunk 2077.
According to the developer, "The game is equipped with DLSS across all display configurations—whether docked or handheld—including distinct performance and quality modes for each."
The implementation allows players to enjoy various performance resolutions depending on their preferred mode of play.
CD Projekt RED clarified, "Our current performance targets include 1080p resolution in docked quality mode, docked performance mode, and handheld quality mode.
Handheld performance mode is designed to run at 720p resolution." This strategic use of DLSS ensures that players on Switch 2 experience smooth framerates and impressive visuals, regardless of their play style.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition immerses players in the dystopian cityscape of Night City as V, a cyber-enhanced mercenary navigating a world of danger and intrigue.
The Ultimate Edition includes both the critically acclaimed base game and the expansive Phantom Liberty DLC, ensuring Nintendo users have access to the complete package.
Optimizations for the Nintendo Switch 2 version extend beyond graphics.
CD Projekt RED has fine-tuned Cyberpunk 2077 for each play mode on the hybrid system, incorporating motion controls for combat engagements, a Gyroscope Mode for precise aiming, and touchscreen support for managing menus and inventories.
Additionally, players can use the enhanced Joy-Con 2 (R) as a mouse-like controller for even deeper customization.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a worldwide release on June 5, 2025.
The title will be available both at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop.
With this ambitious port, CD Projekt RED demonstrates its commitment to bringing high-quality, next-generation gaming experiences to the Nintendo platform, utilizing NVIDIA DLSS technology to push the boundaries of what’s possible on handheld hardware.
