Cookie Clicker Lands on Nintendo Switch: Release Date, Features, and Console Expansion

Cookie Clicker, the classic idle game sensation from DashNet and Playsaurus Games, is officially headed to Nintendo Switch and other major consoles in May 2025.

Originally debuting in 2013 as a web-based phenomenon, Cookie Clicker quickly gained iconic status within the idle game genre, captivating millions of players with its simple yet endlessly engaging gameplay loop.

Now, over a decade after its original release, the addictive cookie-producing simulator is making its console debut across Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms on May 22, 2025. The announcement represents a significant milestone for both DashNet and Playsaurus Games.

Speaking about the upcoming console launch in their official statement, the developers emphasized Cookie Clicker’s ongoing popularity and evolution, noting that the title has seen continual development since its inception.

“Cookie Clicker has been actively updated for over a decade, and we are excited to introduce new and returning players to all the fresh content on modern consoles,” they said, underlining their commitment to supporting the game with innovative features and improvements. The newly released trailer for Cookie Clicker's console debut highlights support for the Nintendo Switch platform and notably includes the Nintendo Switch 2 logo.

While it's currently unclear whether Cookie Clicker will receive a dedicated Switch 2 version or leverage the system’s backward compatibility, the inclusion signals that owners of next-generation Nintendo hardware will be able to enjoy the game.

Details about enhanced features or performance specifically for Switch 2 will be made available as launch approaches. For those unfamiliar with its premise, Cookie Clicker tasks players with producing vast quantities of cookies by clicking on a cookie and investing in upgrades—including various helpers like grandmas, farms, factories, and mysterious portals—to automate and multiply cookie production.
