High on Life 2 Confirmed for Switch 2: Release Date, Pre-Orders, and What to Expect

High on Life 2 Confirmed for Switch 2: Release Date, Pre-Orders, and What to Expect Squanch Games and Turn Me Up Games have officially announced that High on Life 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 comedic first-person shooter, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on April 20, 2026.

After a brief period of speculation following leaks on Amazon, the confirmation brings clarity for fans eager to experience this intergalactic adventure on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.

The game will be available as a physical Game-Key Card and through digital download, with pre-orders already live at major retailers Amazon and GameStop in the United States. High on Life 2 continues the unique blend of irreverent humor and chaotic action that made the original a standout.

In this sequel, players once again assume the role of a galaxy-traversing bounty hunter.

After saving humanity and dismantling a criminal cartel in the first installment, the protagonist’s new life is disrupted when a mysterious figure resurfaces, threatening their family and reigniting a galaxy-spanning conspiracy.

According to the Steam summary, the game invites players to join a quirky team of alien companions as they take on an evil pharmaceutical conglomerate bent on commodifying human life, all while navigating lush new worlds and over-the-top scenarios. Gameplay innovations include a revamped arsenal of talking alien weapons, high-energy combat, and all-new traversal mechanics.

Notably, High on Life 2 introduces skateboarding as a core movement feature, allowing players to perform tricks and evade enemies in style.

The cast is voiced by renowned comedic actors, promising another dose of humor and absurdity for returning fans and newcomers alike. "We’re thrilled to bring High on Life 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2, giving players the chance to experience our cosmic adventure on the latest Nintendo platform," representatives from Squanch Games and Turn Me Up Games shared in a prepared statement.

This marks the latest collaboration between the two studios, following previous releases that pushed creative boundaries within the first-person shooter genre. High on Life 2’s arrival on Switch 2 aligns with the franchise’s expanding reach.

The original game, designed by Justin Roiland—co-creator of Rick & Morty and founder of Squanch Games in 2016—earned acclaim for its humor and inventive gameplay.

However, Roiland is not involved in the sequel, having departed the company in 2023. Physical and digital editions of High on Life 2 will both be available for Switch 2 owners on launch day.

With pre-orders accessible through Amazon and GameStop, fans in the US can secure their copies ahead of the April 20 release.

The early release date for Switch 2 also means Nintendo players will receive the title just two months after its debut on other platforms, which is set for February 13, 2026. High on Life 2 looks set to build on the strengths of its predecessor, offering Nintendo Switch 2 users a polished, content-rich experience featuring all-new mechanics, levels, and a signature comedic narrative.

As the series sets its sights on a new generation of hardware, early indications suggest Squanch Games remains committed to delivering innovative and memorable gameplay for the Nintendo community.
