The company announced the lineup during Sonic’s Birthday Livestream, detailing staggered drops and a new SEGA Music Collection that will roll out alongside each free character release.
The incoming roster additions are Classic Sonic, who is scheduled to be available later today, Axel from the Crazy Taxi franchise arriving in August 2026, and Amigo from Samba de Amigo slated for September 2026.
SEGA confirmed these characters will be delivered as free content updates, expanding the CrossWorlds roster over the coming months.
Alongside the characters, SEGA will introduce a SEGA Music Collection tied to the updates.
SEGA says tracks will be added with each free character drop; the announcement trailer highlights music from Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure and Space Channel 5.
The livestream also debuted “Speed Is My Life,” a new collaboration featuring composers and performers Jun Senoue, NateWantsToBattle, Tee Lopes and Takahiro Kai created to mark Sonic’s 35th Anniversary.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch and is available both at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop worldwide.
SEGA’s continued post-launch support with free characters and soundtrack additions follows a growing industry trend of sustained live-service updates for racing and multiplayer titles.
