7Levels Reimagines Castle of Heart: Retold for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 Polish developer 7Levels has officially confirmed the return of their acclaimed action platformer with the announcement of Castle of Heart: Retold, set for release on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

This newly announced title is a comprehensive reimagining of the original Castle of Heart, which debuted on the Nintendo Switch in 2018 and quickly gained recognition for its challenging gameplay and unique Slavic folklore setting. Building on Player Feedback and Modern Hardware Castle of Heart: Retold features a "completely revamped version" of the classic adventure, leveraging both fan feedback and the improved capabilities of Nintendo’s current and next-generation platforms.

7Levels emphasized that the new iteration offers major improvements, from enhanced graphics and animations to a total overhaul of gameplay mechanics, user interface, and narrative presentation.

"Players can expect a much smoother, more immersive experience that highlights their skills and tactics," the developer noted in a recent statement. Immersive Slavic Folklore Players will return to the role of Svaran, a Slavic warrior fighting to free the land from the tyrannical Sorcerer.

After the sorcerer's servant, acting on behalf of the evil god Chernobog, kidnaps the last priestess of the goddess Mokosh, Svaran must defy overwhelming odds.

As he battles a wide range of mystical enemies—including chorts, ghouls, and vodniks—the curse turning his body to stone becomes an ever-present threat.

Maintaining your kill streak is essential, as failure will cause Svaran’s limbs to disintegrate, compromising his ability to fight. Feature-Rich and Enhanced for a New Generation Castle of Heart: Retold has been rebuilt to take full advantage of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

Key features include: - Challenging combat across four Slavic-inspired landscapes, with an arsenal of melee and ranged weapons such as torches, hatchets, javelins, and crossbows. - Extensive graphical and gameplay improvements, including updated character models, more detailed environments, improved lighting, remixed music, and smoother controls. - All dialogue and cutscenes have been rewritten and remade, delivering a new perspective on the legend of Svaran and Mira. - Rebalanced combat and platforming for a fairer, more engaging action experience. - Enhanced boss encounters, collectibles, and multiple endings based on achievements—inviting players to seek out every Crystal of Mokosh for the ultimate conclusion. Release Details Castle of Heart: Retold is slated for a digital release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in Summer 2025, allowing fans worldwide to experience the reimagined tale.

7Levels has also confirmed plans to release the title for Nintendo Switch 2 at a later, yet-to-be-specified date. This ambitious retelling reaffirms 7Levels’ commitment to delivering high-quality, story-driven experiences on Nintendo platforms, drawing on Slavic myth and modern gameplay innovations.

For longtime fans and new players alike, Castle of Heart: Retold promises to be a definitive adventure when it launches next year.
