Kwalee and Out of the Blue Games have released the launch trailer for Call of the Elder Gods, the direct sequel to 2020’s Call of the Sea.

The title is available now on both Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop, and continues the studio’s focus on narrative-driven puzzle adventures.

Call of the Elder Gods expands the original’s puzzle and exploration framework into a Lovecraftian story inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow out of Time.

The game follows Professor Harry Everhart and student Evangeline Drayton as they investigate unsettling phenomena at Miskatonic University and trace an artifact’s impact across time and place.

Developers describe the project as a narrative puzzle adventure that sends players to remote, vividly rendered locations to unearth ancient horrors while confronting themes of grief, family, and sanity.

Gameplay builds on Call of the Sea’s object- and observation-based puzzles, with a renewed emphasis on multi-part, cross-character problem solving.

Players can switch between Harry and Evangeline to tackle complex environmental challenges, and the game offers adjustable difficulty through toggle-able hints, on-screen icons, and journal entries to suit different playstyles.

Environments range from firelit New England libraries to the red sands of the Australian outback, frozen wastelands, and otherworldly cities, all created in Unreal Engine 5.

Production credentials include a return by composer Eduardo De La Iglesia, credited with the game’s score, and full voice acting featuring Yuri Lowenthal and Cissy Jones reprising leading roles.

The title’s cinematic presentation and audio design remain a highlighted element in promotional materials and the newly released launch trailer.

The launch trailer, published by Kwalee in partnership with Out of the Blue Games, is intended to showcase the game’s narrative beats, locations, and puzzle systems.

For players on Nintendo platforms, Call of the Elder Gods is already purchasable on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

For industry observers, the release underscores continued support for premium narrative experiences on Nintendo’s current and next-generation handheld-console hybrid, and marks a significant step for Out of the Blue Games following the critical attention received by Call of the Sea.
