Dear Villagers and developer Domesticated Ant Games have officially announced Gravity Circuit 2 for Nintendo Switch, confirming a worldwide digital launch on the Nintendo eShop in 2027.
The sequel returns to the same universe as the original 2D action platformer and is set several years after the events of the first game, placing players in a rebuilt Kernel City under threat from a new Ark controlled by the invading Hunter Army.
The announcement introduces a mix of returning and new characters.
Kai, the series’ familiar close-combat fighter, is confirmed to return as a playable protagonist.
The studio also revealed a new playable character, Cable, and players will be able to choose which character to bring into missions from HQ before starting a run.
Developer notes describe Cable as favoring ranged combat: he uses projectiles, can chain multiple damaging jumps to remain airborne, and possesses abilities that convert defeated enemies into scrap that can be fired as ammunition.
Character progression and customization are central to Gravity Circuit 2’s design.
Players will earn new abilities from bosses by equipping Circuit Shards, stack Booster Chips to amplify stats and effects, and slot up to four Burst Techniques for powerful finishing moves.
Defeating bosses will also reward upgrades that unlock additional abilities, and stages contain collectible secrets such as health boosters, burst boosters, civilians to rescue, and crystal fragments that expand player options.
Level design spans a range of distinct environments, including a water processing plant, an artificial forest, a weather control tower, and a theatrical stage described as a “ghastly theatre.” Each locale is built around unique mechanics, stage-specific gimmicks, and bespoke bosses to keep gameplay varied across the campaign.
The announcement was accompanied by a trailer showcasing early gameplay and locales.
Composer Dominic Ninmark is credited for the game’s soundtrack, which the publisher highlights as a driving element during high-speed platforming segments.
