Paradox Interactive, Iceflake Studios and The LEGO Group have formally announced LEGO Skylines, a new city-building simulation heading to Nintendo Switch 2 as a digital release on the Nintendo eShop.

The collaboration brings LEGO’s construction-first design language to a genre familiar to strategy and simulation players, promising a “playful take on city building” that blends creative freedom with systems-driven management.

Announced alongside a debut trailer, LEGO Skylines invites players to start from a single plot, place their first house, and grow a neighborhood into a larger metropolis.

Developers say the game emphasizes both aesthetic design and core infrastructure: players will plan roads, lay down utilities like electricity and water, and ensure food distribution and healthcare to keep citizens happy.

As the city grows, new buildings and services unlock, raising the city’s rating and increasing resident satisfaction.

Iceflake Studios co-founder and game director Lasse Liljedahl explained that the studio’s long-standing passion for LEGO informed the project.

He said the team wanted to combine their childhood affinity for building sets with their professional experience designing deep management and simulation systems, and to make city building feel personal and limited only by player imagination.

Fredrik Löving, senior vice president and global head of games at The LEGO Group, framed LEGO Skylines as an expansion of the LEGO play experience into a major gaming genre.

Löving noted that the partners’ goal was not merely to produce a licensed city-builder but to create a title that aspires to be regarded among the best in the genre, giving players the creative freedom and mechanical depth to construct everything from bustling metropolises to quirky seaside towns.

Gameplay details released so far emphasize city aesthetics and functionality: players can create parks, retail districts, cultural venues, farms, hospitals and sports arenas to shape citizen behavior and satisfaction.

The announcement confirms a worldwide digital release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2, though no specific release date or launch window has been provided.

Further information, including pricing, exact release timing, and additional platforms (if any), will likely accompany future marketing updates or a Nintendo Direct-style presentation.

For now, LEGO Skylines marks a notable partnership between Paradox Interactive, Iceflake Studios and The LEGO Group to bring a LEGO-flavored city-building experience to Nintendo’s next-generation handheld/home console.
