Atelier Karia on Nintendo Switch 2: Koei Tecmo and Gust Announce Early 2027 Release

Koei Tecmo and Gust have confirmed Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a global retail and digital release slated for early 2027.

The announcement positions the new entry as the next mainline title from Gust, the long-running developer behind the Atelier series, and will be available on Nintendo's eShop as well as physical retail at launch.

Atelier Karia continues Gust's alchemy-focused RPG lineage.

The publisher described the game's narrative focus on the protagonist's search for identity; in journalistic terms, Koei Tecmo says Karia is an amnesiac who will confront her lost past within a mysterious subterranean realm beneath a location named Aladiss, with the story promising a sequence of discoveries and revelations about her origins.

The studio behind Atelier has a decades-long history with the franchise: Gust launched the Atelier series with Atelier Marie in 1997 and has developed multiple mainline and spin-off titles since.

Koei Tecmo has published and supported Gust's projects in recent years, and this announcement continues that partnership onto Nintendo's next-generation hardware.

Platform context: the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo's hybrid console, debuted in March 2017 and established the Atelier series on current-generation Nintendo hardware; the newly named Nintendo Switch 2 will host Atelier Karia as a first-party-targeted third-party release at the start of 2027.

Koei Tecmo confirmed the game will be distributed both physically and digitally via the Nintendo eShop worldwide.

The initial announcement included descriptive notes and accompanying assets from the publisher outlining setting and premise.

Media coverage of the reveal was reported by industry journalist Alex Seedhouse.

Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories joins the Atelier portfolio as Gust continues to refine its mix of alchemy systems, character-driven storytelling, and RPG mechanics for a new console generation.

With a confirmed early 2027 release window and simultaneous retail and eShop availability, the title is now officially scheduled for the Nintendo Switch 2's software lineup, giving fans a clear target date range for the next mainline Atelier experience.
