Assassin’s Creed Shadows Receives PEGI Rating for Nintendo Switch 2
The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board has officially issued an age classification rating for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.
This development is notable as it suggests the popular franchise’s latest installment may be heading to Nintendo’s forthcoming console, reinforcing Ubisoft's reputation for supporting Nintendo's hardware through multiple generations.
Currently, the PEGI website features Assassin’s Creed Shadows among its most-searched games, including the age classification specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2.
However, the detailed ratings entry only lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as confirmed platforms.
To date, Ubisoft has formally announced only Star Wars Outlaws as a title planned for a Nintendo Switch 2 port, building on the publisher’s longstanding collaboration with the Japanese gaming giant.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows made its global debut one month ago, transporting players to late 16th-century Japan during the closing years of the Sengoku period.
The game introduces players to new series protagonists: Naoe, a highly skilled shinobi assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, a powerful African samurai inspired by historical legend.
The dual narrative structure and innovative gameplay mechanics have attracted generally favorable reviews from critics and players alike since launch.
Ubisoft has highlighted several key features for Assassin’s Creed Shadows:
- Explore an expansive open world set in feudal Japan, from vibrant castle towns and busy ports to serene shrines and war-torn landscapes, all brought to life with dynamic weather, changing seasons, and interactive environments.
- Experience two distinct playstyles: use stealth and agility as Naoe to evade enemies or embrace Yasuke’s formidable combat skills to overpower foes with lethal precision.
- Build a network of informants, using intelligence gathering and ally recruitment as integral tools for tracking targets and advancing through the story.
- Customize and manage a dedicated hideout, where players can improve their crew, craft equipment, interact with story characters, and personalize the base with a variety of expansions and decorations.
Assassin’s Creed has a longstanding presence on Nintendo platforms, though recent entries have primarily launched on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
The addition of a PEGI rating for Nintendo Switch 2 signals ongoing discussions around future multiplatform releases as the industry anticipates Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
Combining Ubisoft’s commitment to broad platform support and the strong historical sales of Assassin’s Creed worldwide, the title is set to reach an even wider audience if confirmed for Nintendo’s newest console.
For now, neither Nintendo nor Ubisoft has issued an official statement regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
Until further announcements are made, fans can continue to experience the critically acclaimed action-adventure on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while remaining optimistic about a potential Switch 2 release on the horizon.
