Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the highly anticipated action-adventure set in feudal Japan, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game is set for a global retail and digital release via the Nintendo eShop on December 2, 2025.
This marks a significant milestone for both Ubisoft and Nintendo players, as the Assassin’s Creed franchise returns with a version tailored specifically for the new Nintendo hardware.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows invites players to immerse themselves in the intrigue and drama of feudal Japan.
Players can seamlessly alternate between two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, exploring dynamic environments and engaging in stealth or direct combat.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version promises thorough optimization for all play styles, allowing fans to experience the game’s expansive world both at home and on the go.
In a statement, Assassin’s Creed Shadows game director Charles Benoit expressed enthusiasm about the title’s arrival on the new platform.
Benoit highlighted the flexibility Nintendo Switch 2 offers, noting that “players can slip through the shadows as Naoe or confront enemies head-on as Yasuke, freely roaming the streets and rooftops of feudal Japan whether playing at home or anywhere their journey leads.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows includes all content updates introduced since the game’s debut and will integrate the Claws of Awaji expansion, scheduled to launch early next year.
Ubisoft has confirmed that players will benefit from fully integrated touch screen support, making menu, map, and hideout navigation more intuitive than ever before.
Additionally, Ubisoft Connect enables seamless cross-progression across all platforms, offering flexibility for players who want to switch devices without losing their progress.
