Description

Ubisoft’s iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise is heading to new territory, as the company officially sets the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2.

The highly anticipated Switch 2 edition will arrive on December 2, 2025—nine months after its initial launch on other platforms in March.

Renowned for its innovative approach to historical action-adventure, Ubisoft’s latest entry will carry forward the legacy of Assassin’s Creed with enhanced features tailored for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware. Assassin’s Creed Shadows plunges players into a fresh narrative tableau, seamlessly blending parkour, stealth, and open-world exploration.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the Switch 2 version will feature full cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect.

This advancement empowers players to effortlessly continue their journey on Nintendo’s platform, regardless of where they started—reinforcing the brand’s commitment to a player-first experience.

Ubisoft has also stated that all recent updates and free content drops will be included at launch, with the notable exception of the “Claws of Awaji” expansion, which is scheduled for release later in the following year. On the technical front, Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Switch 2 incorporates a suite of exclusive features that take advantage of the new hardware.

Players can utilize touchscreen functionality in all menu interfaces, such as the world map, in-game store, and hideout menus, providing an intuitive and modernized navigation experience.

This aligns with Nintendo’s continued push to merge traditional and touch-based gameplay elements. In the coming months, Ubisoft is rolling out an array of significant updates to enrich the overall experience.

On October 28, Title Update 10 introduces the "Advanced Parkour" mode, a player-driven improvement that removes parkour barriers and allows greater freedom of movement, including side and back ejects from any height.

Additional adjustments enhance vertical ledge grabs and introduce a new beam manual jump, while the popular directional catch ledge mechanic makes its return.

The same update unveils "Corrupted Castles," a fresh Animus-themed activity that challenges players with castle environments filled with anomalies and new rewards, reinvigorating post-story content for dedicated fans. On November 25, Title Update 11 brings the third free story drop titled "A Puzzlement." Ubisoft details that this quest infuses humor reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as it revisits characters from protagonist Naoe’s past.

The update enables Naoe and Yasuke—the game’s dual leading characters—to learn new abilities from one another, including Yasuke’s signature war kick and a non-lethal takedown developed by Naoe.

The story drop also includes an intricate environmental puzzle designed to answer enduring community questions. Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues Ubisoft’s tradition of supporting their titles with meaningful post-launch content.

Holiday season events and additional free items are also on the horizon, enriching the value offered to the Switch 2 audience.

With its December 2, 2025 release, cross-platform progression, and Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive features, Assassin’s Creed Shadows stands poised to be a marquee title for Nintendo’s next-gen system.
