Nintendo’s latest console, the Nintendo Switch 2, continues to make headlines for its strong market performance in 2025.
According to recent data from Circana, shared by industry analyst Stephen Totilo of Game File, the console has achieved remarkable sales milestones alongside its premium accessory, the Switch 2 Pro Controller.
With 1.6 million Switch 2 consoles sold in the United States alone in June 2025, consumer enthusiasm for the new hardware is clear.
The Switch 2 Pro Controller, recognized for its premium design and features, has also seen impressive uptake.
Circana estimates that approximately 512,000 Pro Controllers were sold in the US during the opening months of the platform’s launch.
This translates to an attach rate of about 32%, meaning nearly one in every three new Switch 2 owners opted to purchase this advanced controller.
This strong attachment reflects not only the desirability of the Pro Controller but also the commitment of early adopters to enhance their gaming experience.
Introduced at a premium price point, the Switch 2 Pro Controller stands out as one of the more costly accessories on the market.
Its launch price was affected by broader economic factors, as highlighted by Nintendo’s reference to market conditions influencing a rise from $80 to $85.
These adjustments came in response to shifts in trade policy and tariffs imposed during the Trump administration, impacting the cost of gaming hardware and accessories globally.
Notably, the original Switch Pro Controller, designed for the first-generation Nintendo Switch, retains compatibility with the Switch 2.
This backward compatibility offers users the flexibility to continue using their existing accessories.
However, for many, the opportunity to upgrade to the latest Pro Controller remains attractive due to enhanced features and a refined ergonomic design.
Given the early stage of the Switch 2’s lifecycle, market analysts anticipate that accessory sales may fluctuate in the months ahead as the install base grows and more consumers consider additional hardware purchases.
Despite these dynamics, the current attach rate for the Pro Controller is a strong indicator of consumer confidence in Nintendo’s hardware ecosystem.
As the Nintendo Switch 2 ecosystem expands, industry watchers remain keenly interested in how other official accessories, such as the new Camera peripheral, will perform in the marketplace.
For now, the Switch 2 Pro Controller’s robust early sales underscore Nintendo’s continued influence in the gaming hardware sector and its ability to drive engagement with premium accessories.
Stay tuned for further updates as Nintendo’s hardware lineup continues to evolve and new sales figures emerge.
