Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved is losing official server support on Nintendo Switch.
In an announcement published this week, the publisher confirmed that official servers for both ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch will be sunset on August 31, 2026.
The decision affects hosted official servers on the platform only; players who enjoy single-player or community-hosted experiences are not impacted.
Background and platform history
ARK: Survival Evolved originally arrived on Nintendo Switch in 2018, giving players a portable version of the survival-sandbox that had launched earlier on other platforms.
A rebuilt Switch remaster from Grove Street Games relaunched the title in 2022, addressing performance and compatibility through that updated edition.
According to the announcement, more than one million players have used the official Switch servers since the original Switch release and the 2022 remaster.
What the announcement says (rewritten)
The statement explained that official servers for ARK and ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch will close on August 31, 2026.
It thanked the player community for their participation since the Switch release in 2018 and the Grove Street Games remaster in 2022, and made clear that unofficial servers and single-player modes will continue to be fully playable after the sunset date.
The company also confirmed that game ownership will not be affected: there are no plans to delist ARK from the Nintendo eShop, and players who purchased the game will retain access to everything outside official servers.
What Switch players need to know
- Official hosted servers on Nintendo Switch will be taken offline on August 31, 2026. - Single-player and unofficial/community servers will remain available after that date. - Purchases and ownership of the game on the Nintendo eShop will not be impacted; the title is not being delisted.
This change narrows official online support for ARK on the Switch but preserves the ability for players to continue their single-player campaigns and to join or host unofficial servers.
Players relying on official servers should plan accordingly ahead of the August 31, 2026 sunset and consult the official announcement for any additional migration guidance or FAQs.
