Third Party Nintendo Switch Software Sales Surge to $2.3 Billion in 2025, Led by Warner Bros.

The Nintendo Switch continues to solidify its position as a powerhouse in the gaming industry, with third party game publishers enjoying unprecedented success on the platform.

According to new data released by respected video game analytics firm Ampere Analysis, combined third party software sales on both the Nintendo Switch and the next-generation Switch 2 have reached a remarkable $2.3 billion between Q2 and Q4 of 2025.

This achievement underlines the robust ecosystem and commercial appeal of Nintendo’s hardware to developers beyond its own studios.

Ampere’s latest report highlights a significant 76% year-over-year increase in third party sales.

For context, the same period in 2024 saw third party revenues totaling $1.3 billion, making this year’s figures a testament to the growing momentum within the Nintendo Switch ecosystem.

This surge is largely attributed to the expanding user base of both the original Nintendo Switch and the recently launched Switch 2, as well as a strong lineup of highly anticipated game releases available through the Nintendo eShop and at retail.

Leading the third party charge is Warner Bros., which has distinguished itself as the top-performing third party publisher on Nintendo's platforms during this period.

Their impressive results were driven in large part by the massive success of Hogwarts Legacy, a game that resonated with a broad audience and consistently performed well in global sales charts.

Ampere Analysis notes that Warner Bros. has not only outpaced rivals during this timespan but also demonstrated the strong market potential for AAA titles on Nintendo’s hardware.

Following Warner Bros., Bandai Namco and Electronic Arts (EA) secured the next top spots for third party software revenue generation on the Switch platforms.

These publishers brought a diverse catalog of games—spanning popular action, role-playing, and sports franchises—to Nintendo fans, contributing to the dynamic and varied content landscape available to players worldwide.

“With a 76% year-on-year growth in third party software sales, the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 have become increasingly essential platforms for global game publishers,” Ampere stated in its report, emphasizing the expanding opportunities for third party developers seeking to reach millions of engaged users.

These figures reinforce the Nintendo Switch ecosystem’s reputation as a developer-friendly environment, with the Nintendo eShop serving as a lucrative marketplace for both established franchises and innovative new IPs.

As the Switch and Switch 2 continue to attract a broad, engaged audience, third party publishers are expected to continue investing in the platform, ensuring a strong and diverse lineup of titles for years to come.
