In a recent email, Amazon UK clarified, “Invitations are no longer required to buy the Switch 2 on amazon.co.uk, and the console will be available to purchase without an invitation soon.” Previously, customers visiting the Switch 2 product page were met with an invite-only message; now, it simply reads "Currently Unavailable," indicating that standard ordering is imminent. Amazon UK acknowledged in its communication that it was “not able to accommodate” every invite request during the initial phase.

However, the impending shift means anyone interested will soon be able to add the Nintendo Switch 2 directly to their cart and check out as normal.

While an exact date for the opening of standard pre-orders has not been announced, Amazon advises customers to monitor its website regularly for updates. Elsewhere in the UK market, the My Nintendo Store (MNS) has also adopted an invite-only system for Switch 2 pre-orders.

This approach restricted purchases to customers meeting select Nintendo Switch Online criteria, although not all qualifying users received invitations.

Pre-orders via the My Nintendo Store are set to open soon, while a number of other retailers have begun to offer their own pre-order options, broadening consumer access to Nintendo’s latest hardware. The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited hardware launches of the year.
