Nintendo Unveils Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and New Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo continues to expand its presence on the Nintendo Switch platform with new content for fans of The Legend of Zelda and the acclaimed amiibo collectible line.
In the latest Nintendo Direct dedicated to the upcoming Switch 2, Nintendo revealed two major announcements: a new entry in the Hyrule Warriors series titled Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and the release date for four new amiibo figures compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment joins the successful Hyrule Warriors lineup, recognized for blending fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay with characters and settings from The Legend of Zelda universe.
Developed collaboratively by Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, Hyrule Warriors games have established themselves as fan favorites, combining the Musou action style with rich Zelda lore.
Alongside the game reveal, Nintendo announced the June 5th, 2025 launch of four new amiibo figures: Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, and Sidon.
These characters, lovingly recreated in physical form, are key allies from Tears of the Kingdom and offer in-game functionality for Nintendo Switch players.
According to an official statement from Nintendo, these amiibo unlock unique items and enhancements when used with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Each amiibo grants special paraglider fabric for Link, along with various weapons and materials that provide helpful advantages on players’ adventures.
Nintendo reaffirmed its commitment to enriching the player experience through amiibo, which have sold over 77 million units worldwide as of 2023, reinforcing their continued popularity among collectors and fans.
A message from Nintendo’s official X account read: "Amiibo figures of Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, and Sidon from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are releasing on June 5.
Each unlocks a fabric for Link’s paraglider, weapons, and useful materials for your quest."
In addition to these four releases, Nintendo confirmed a fifth amiibo, Minergolem, is in development, though images and further details remain forthcoming.
All announced amiibo will be available at major retailers and through the Nintendo eShop while supplies last.
As always, Nintendo encourages fans to stay tuned for further updates and to watch future Nintendo Direct presentations for more information on upcoming releases.
The company’s focus on extending The Legend of Zelda universe and enhancing the Switch experience cements its leadership in the gaming industry, as both casual and outcore players look forward to new adventures throughout 2025.
