Daybreak Game Company and Cold Iron Studios have confirmed that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 this fall.

The announcement, accompanied by a new co-op trailer, positions the sequel as a cross-generational release for Nintendo’s next console and follows the franchise’s previous appearance on the original Nintendo Switch as a cloud-based title.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is a cooperative third-person survival shooter set in the Alien universe.

Developers describe the game as a four-player co-op experience where players assume the roles of Colonial Marines sent to the franchise’s most hostile environments.

The core proposition is survival over rescue: xenomorphs ambush from shadows, swarm corridors, and force constant tactical adaptation from squads.

In journalistic terms, the development team says AFE2 expands the series’ cooperative focus by increasing squad size to four and deepening team mechanics to reward coordination and class synergy.

The game adds new and improved classes with distinct tactical abilities and introduces the Specialist — a fully customizable class that allows players to combine major and minor abilities from across other classes to tailor loadouts to specific roles.

Combat enhancements include broader weapon and gear customization, new ammo types such as incendiary and electric rounds, and melee options like stun batons for close-quarters survival.

The title launches with multiple Horde-style maps that task squads with surviving escalating waves of xenomorphs and other hostile forces, rewarding teams that progress deeper into the onslaught.

A new co-op trailer released with the reveal showcases four-player squad gameplay and the intensified enemy variety the developers say will force players to remain mobile and maintain situational awareness.

The trailer and official materials emphasize the shift from tense standoffs to sudden, high-intensity engagements.

For context, the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite was previously available on Nintendo Switch as a cloud version through the eShop.

That cloud version was delisted earlier this year, and its servers have since shut down.

Daybreak and Cold Iron’s announcement marks a return for the franchise to Nintendo platforms, this time targeting Nintendo’s next-generation hardware with a native Switch 2 version arriving this fall.
