Afterparty Arrives on Nintendo Switch: Night School Studio’s Hit Indie Adventure Launches March 6

Night School Studio, the acclaimed independent game developer renowned for its narrative-driven creations, has officially announced the release of its celebrated title Afterparty on the Nintendo Switch platform.

The game will be available for digital purchase through the Nintendo eShop starting March 6, 2020, priced at $15.99 USD.

Afterparty, previously launched to critical praise on Xbox One (including Xbox Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and the Epic Games Store, is now expanding its reach to Nintendo’s popular hybrid console.

The announcement is accompanied by a brand-new trailer, giving fans and newcomers a fresh glimpse into the game’s irreverent take on the afterlife. In Afterparty, players step into the shoes of best friends Lola and Milo—voiced by Janina Gavankar ("The Morning Show") and Khoi Dao—who find themselves unexpectedly deceased and facing an eternity in Hell.

Presented with a singular escape: outdrink Satan himself to return to the land of the living.

The journey is packed with witty dialogue, dark humor, and a series of demonic diversions, from dance-offs to beer pong.

Night School Studio has emphasized how well-suited Afterparty is to the Nintendo Switch.

Sean Krankel, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Night School Studio, noted that adapting the vibrant adventure game for the platform has been immensely rewarding for the team.

Krankel explains that Afterparty can be enjoyed with a variety of control methods, whether players prefer touch controls or Joy-Cons, and can be played on the go—"on the subway, in a bar, or even at church—wherever you choose." Key features of Afterparty on Nintendo Switch include an innovative conversation system allowing players to shape the narrative and character relationships with every decision, an interconnected underworld traversable via the River Styx, over 30 distinctive beverages that influence dialogue and outcomes, and a memorable cast of hellish characters—each with their own story to tell.

The game is further enhanced by an original soundtrack composed by scntfc, the composer behind Night School Studio’s breakout title, Oxenfree. With its blend of bold storytelling, interactive mechanics, and portable play, Afterparty is poised to be a strong addition to Nintendo Switch’s robust library of indie games.

The game is available for pre-purchase now on the Nintendo eShop ahead of its March 6 digital release.
