Arcade Archives Launches Konami GT and Ishin no Arashi on Nintendo Switch and More Platforms

Hamster Corporation, the renowned publisher behind the Arcade Archives and Console Archives series, continues its commitment to video game history with the release of two notable retro titles: Konami GT and Ishin no Arashi.

Arriving on April 16, 2026, these classics are set to launch across multiple modern platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Konami GT, originally developed by Konami and released in 1985, is a classic arcade racing game that has earned its reputation as the spiritual successor to the revered Road Fighter.

The title debuted on the innovative but commercially challenging Konami Bubble System, later adapted to the widely used Konami Nemesis/GX400 board due to production issues with the original hardware.

In arcades, players could choose between upright or sit-in cabinets as they raced through traffic, navigated checkpoints, and aimed to complete six challenging stages.

From stretches of coastal highways to sun-soaked plains, Konami GT captivated players with its immersive environments and competitive racing mechanics. Referring to the upcoming release, Hamster summarized the gameplay in a statement: Players must vigilantly manage their fuel as they strive to conquer all stages, racing through ever-changing landscapes and pushing for the finish line.

The modern Arcade Archives edition preserves this high-octane experience and introduces enhancements such as online leaderboards, customizable screen filters, and new play modes, including HI SCORE MODE and CARAVAN MODE.

Notably, the Arcade Archives 2 release—which covers Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S—adds a TIME ATTACK MODE exclusive to these platforms. Konami GT will be priced at $7.99 for Nintendo Switch and PS4 users, and at $9.99 for those on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

While Konami GT has seen very few reissues—its most recent being in the 2010 Game Room collection for Xbox 360 and Windows PC—this new launch marks a significant moment for retro racing fans and game preservation. Alongside Konami GT, Hamster is also resurrecting Ishin no Arashi as part of the Console Archives line.

Developed by Koei and first released in 1990 for the Nintendo Famicom, Ishin no Arashi is a historical simulation set in Japan’s Bakumatsu period (1867), when players take on the role of a patriot seeking to influence political leaders and guide the country toward modernization.

The game invites players to partake in strategic debates and navigate the turmoil of the dramatic end of the Edo Shogunate, blending intellectual rivalry with historical immersion. Originally launched on the NEC PC-98 and subsequently ported to multiple platforms, including Sega Saturn and PlayStation, Ishin no Arashi has also inspired sequels on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo DS.

This latest version retains its original Japanese language setting but incorporates modern conveniences such as customizable controls, multiple save points, and a rewind feature.

Priced at $7.99, it will be available for both Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. Hamster's continuing retro gaming initiative ensures that classic titles like Konami GT and Ishin no Arashi remain accessible to new audiences on current-generation hardware, underscoring the enduring appeal of arcade and console legends.
