The project blends the cooperative puzzle design of the indie hit Pico Park with classic Sonic characters and platforming mechanics.
Developed in partnership with TECOPARK and set to be published in Japan by Pico Park, Sonic Pico Park is described as a 2D action-puzzler that translates Pico Park’s signature cooperative challenges into a Sonic-themed package.
The game supports both local and online multiplayer for up to eight players, allowing groups to tackle stages together across handheld and home-console play on Nintendo’s current and next-gen Switch hardware.
Gameplay details released by Sega emphasize teamwork and familiar Sonic mechanics.
The publisher explained that each stage requires players to reach a goal plate located on the right side of the screen, with success contingent on coordinated cooperation between players.
Sega also noted that every playable character can perform Sonic’s Spin Dash and that the crossover incorporates classic Sonic elements such as rings, loops, and springs to create new puzzle-and-platforming scenarios.
Sonic Pico Park keeps its core premise simple but cooperative-focused: players must collaborate to navigate hazards, use character abilities, and solve timing-dependent puzzles to progress.
The combination of Pico Park’s puzzle-driven co-op design and Sonic’s movement systems aims to create levels that reward both communication and precise platforming.
Sega has released a trailer and a selection of screenshots showcasing the game’s 2D stages, character roster, and cooperative set pieces.
The materials highlight how Sonic-themed level elements—loops, springs, and ring collection—are integrated into shared puzzle rooms designed for group play.
Sonic Pico Park will be available worldwide as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 12 November 2026.
Further details, including pricing and post-launch plans, will be provided by Sega as the release date approaches.
