Kirby and the Forgotten Land Soundtrack Partially Arrives on Nintendo Music in Anniversary Update
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the acclaimed 3D platformer released by HAL Laboratory and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch, continues to captivate audiences two years after its debut.
In celebration of the game’s third anniversary, Nintendo has made a notable update to its Nintendo Music service, delivering a curated selection of tracks from Kirby and the Forgotten Land's beloved soundtrack.
Released in March 2022, Kirby and the Forgotten Land marked the pink hero’s first venture into full 3D gameplay on the Nintendo Switch.
The title was praised by both critics and longtime fans for its inventive mechanics—including the much-adored Mouthful Mode—as well as its vibrant visuals and catchy music.
The game rapidly soared in popularity, cementing itself as the best-selling installment in the Kirby franchise and bolstering the success of HAL Laboratory and Nintendo's collaboration on the Switch platform.
This week, Nintendo Music added 23 handpicked tracks from Kirby and the Forgotten Land, amounting to a total runtime of one hour and 25 minutes.
This addition is significant for two reasons: not only does it commemorate the game's ongoing legacy, but it also marks the first time Nintendo Music has released only a portion of a game’s soundtrack, rather than the complete score at once.
According to statements from the Nintendo Music app, the remainder of the soundtrack—comprising over 115 songs in total—will roll out later in 2024.
The company has not yet provided a reason for this phased approach.
Fans can now access fan-favorite tracks such as "Ready to Go!", "Waddle Dee Town", "Roar of Dedede", and "Welcome to the New World! (Full)" via the Nintendo Music platform.
While this selection offers listeners a strong taste of the game's musical highlights, anticipation continues to build for the eventual release of the complete Kirby and the Forgotten Land soundtrack, which has become an integral part of the game's charm and identity.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s critical acclaim and commercial performance have underscored its importance within the Switch library and among Nintendo’s celebrated franchises.
The partial soundtrack release not only serves as a milestone for the game but also sets a new precedent for how Nintendo Music curates and launches game music on its platform.
The Nintendo Music service has recently expanded its offerings, adding selections from classic titles such as Super Mario Bros.
2, Super Mario Bros.
3, and a variety of 3DS StreetPass tunes.
With demand for video game soundtracks growing across digital platforms, the staggered release strategy for Kirby and the Forgotten Land is likely to be closely watched by industry analysts and dedicated fans alike.
As Nintendo continues to enhance its music library and celebrate its rich catalog of games, Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s legacy endures—both through innovative gameplay and its memorable soundtrack.
Switch owners and music fans can look forward to more Kirby tunes joining Nintendo Music later this year.
